Seaview Cottage in 1/24th Scale

I've been busy building cottages ready for the dolls house fair in two weeks time. I have four 1/12th scale cottages ready and waiting and have been really enjoying making some 1/24th scale houses - they are so much easier to handle! My latest just finished last night is 'Seaview'. I like this style of cottage in 1/12th scale but had never attempted a smaller scale version before. I think it works quite well (but then I am a bit biased!!) I love using papier mache for the exterior wall finish - very messy to do but so relaxing! I enjoyed making this house so much I can see I will be cutting up some more plywood this weekend to make another one.

Another Tudor House - Smaller This Time!!

This is a little 1/24th scale Tudor style house built just before the 12th scale one I made for Carol. I really enjoy building in 24th scale - it's such a nice size to handle and the ceilings are so easy to paint - you just turn the house upside down! This one is going to live in Southport with another friend Brenda. I have two more 1/24th scale cottages on the workbench at the moment and hope to have them ready to take to Northwich. 



Apologies and Welcomes!!

Apologies first of all for being so long in posting but here I am at last. I would like to say a big welcome to my new followers - I will try and keep my blog up to date for you I promise! I have been busy building since my last post. I have just completed a Tudor style house for my friend Carol and here it is. You can probably see from the photo that we have had a foggy day here today. I will be delivering the house to Carol in Crewe on Sunday - hope she likes it!
 I have been undecided about doing another dolls house fair but have finally decided to book a stall at the fair in Northwich on the 26th February. That gives me enough time to add a couple of houses to my stock. I have ideas for two new cottages so the plywood will be out at the weekend and the house will be full of sawdust again. Can't wait for the better weather when I can do all my sawing outside!

First Fair

I did my first fair today - in Nantwich - with lots of help from Carol and Roy (thank you!).  I was really nervous before-hand, but had lots of lovely feedback and we sold several houses.  I completely ran out of cards (designed by Peter), and quite a few people spent time going through my 'back catalogue' - a photo album of past projects. Incredibly tired aftewards.

Panic stations!

Although I've been to lots of fairs over the years, I've never had my own stall before.  So next week, when I'm taking some of my houses to the dollshouse fair in Nantwich (http://www.dollshouse-fairs.co.uk/Our_Fairs.html), will be a first.  And I'm starting to panic.  The houses themselves are just about ready, and the photo shows the first practice layout on the dining room table at home.  Will everything fit? How do you make the stall look attractive? How will they all fit in the car....?

Charlie gets very very excited everytime I get out the saw as we've got into the habit of my sawing outside (cold at this time of year) and taking little breaks to wack tennis balls up the garden for him.  Now, any suggestion of marking up wood for a new dollshouse must mean playtime for him.

Old review

Altrincham was good this morning - met up with some friends and I bought some wallpaper, stairs, furniture and other bits and bobs. They should come in handy for the house I'm building at the moment.

Just got a shock - I hadn't realised that this magazine article I wrote several years ago for The Dolls House Magazine was posted on the Dolls House Emporium Blog last December. It was great fun building, and also fun to have something published!
