'The Old Boathouse' - Version No. 2

This is 'the Old Boathouse', similar to a cottage I made recently but with the large feature window at the front rather than the side. I really enjoy making those large windows. Very boring in a way - lots of cuttting out little bits of wood - but very satisfying when it's finished!!

Another French Style House

This is a recent project - designed for those of us with little space left for another dolls house but still wanting a little slice of French style living. The house is only ten inches wide so it doesn't take up much room!

New 24th Scale Cottages

I have to be in the right mood for 24th scale building and the mood struck me this week - and these two tiny cottages were the result.

Inside Maison Des Fleurs

This is a photo (not a very good one) of the inside of the French style house. I used all my favourite wallpapers in this one and tried to make the interior light and bright so it would suit lots of lovely 'shabby chic' furniture.

Something a Little Bit Different

I mentioned in an earlier blog entry that I was building a French style house. Here it is. Quite a big house for me really - I usually stick to one or two room cottages so this was a huge project and I don't think I will do anything else this big for a while. I like to be able to move houses around easily - once they get to this sort of size and weight that becomes difficult. Anyway, I enjoyed the building work and the house now lives in Devon. You can just about see the lovely sign by the front door. This was purchased from a very talented maker on etsy (martapellise) and similarly the pot of lavender (Marianne26). Go and have a look at the wonderful things these two clever craftspeople produce. I guarantee you will be tempted to buy!!

Yet Another Cottage!!

This is my latest cottage creation - 'The Old Boathouse'. I started off with an idea for a barn conversion - inspired whilst out walking the dog and seeing some local barns being modernised. As the project went on though I could feel another fishing cottage coming on and it changed gradually into the Old Boathouse. I made the big window in the end wall from scratch using lots of little strips of wood - if I had used a ruler when I first cut out the main uprights for the opening it would have made life so much easier. As it is each section of the window is a slightly different size - so much for doing it all 'by eye'!! I think the interior is quite flexible - could be modern or traditional. I much prefer plastering walls to wallpapering - I find papering far too stressful!
